Even in today's economy you will have turnover and must replace workers. For the most part you cannot simply shut down operations. The costs of recruitment, training, testing, etc. are extensive. The easiest way to give you the best chance of placing quality people on your payroll is to check the backgrounds of anyone you are considering. Not everyone. But just the candidates you have a good feeling about. After all, think about everything terrible that can occur if you hire a person who assaults a someone when you could have known the worker had an extensive criminal record of violent crimes. Or if you hire a driver who gets drunk at lunch and injures someone in a wreck. What if you could have instantly learned the person already had several DUI convictions on his/her driving record? No one can afford the negative publicity and subsequent lawsuits. Right now you are counting pennies in order to keep your business moving forward. Hiring the right person the first time is a great way to minimize recruitment, turnover, and legal costs.
